Spending time with Jay

He is such a cutie (even if I say so myself). We have definitely been blessed. Though this has not been easy for the both of us.

I dont know what I thought life after Jay would be like. I didnt think that every minute of my time would be occupied with him, or how much I would look forward to 12:00 pm when he would take his afternoon nap. I love Jay but most of the time I dont know what to do to keep him occupied. We have loads and loads of toys but he loves his toys with us attached to it. And I'm sure my arms are longer now, they feel like it, I have muscles too with all the lifting I do. I also think I walk slanted now since he likes sitting on my hip. Hah, the whines of a mom eh?

Ok, I have to say this loud, I think me going back to work will be like a vacation (I know this sounds ridiculous). Now dont get me wrong, I'm happy, but I'm still not used to being a mom. I forgot to take a shower yesterday and when Lenin reminded me last nite it scared me, since I'd never forgotten to take a shower before. Sheesh, I dont want to let myself go, I can be hip and be a mom. Reminder- go to the hair dresser.

Here is the latest update on Jay.
He like his car seat now. He loves his stroller especially if you have a stash of cheerios somewhere where he can get it. He is getting used to the high chair and his crib. We have moved Jay out of our beds and into the crib. He tosses and turns (rolls on his head and butt even) in the night and when sleeping with us, he'd keep us both awake. So we moved him to the crib near our bed, we put him in the crib when he's still awake so that he knows that the crib is where he needs to sleep in.

We also have Jay on a schedule. He wakes up around 7:00 am, has a bottle, then breakfast around 8:00 am. Snacks in between. Lunch around 11:00 am. Nap time at 12:00 pm. He sleeps for 2 hrs. Then he wakes up, has a bottle, then about 3:00 pm, he has his evening snack (cottage cheese and fruit or veggies) and dinner around 6:00 pm. He then has a bath (which helps him sleep) and then another bottle and goes to bed around 7:30 pm.

So far the schedule has been working with him, he knows when he needs to take a nap and when he gets his food etc.

Its my nap time now, so off I go. Will post updates later.

Oh Anila. I know all too well. I have forgotten to take a shower as well. I have to leave the house 2 times a day so I manage to get dressed but sometimes make up just doesn't happen. I just posted on my blog that I have to remember to shower daily. Glad I'm not the only one. Talk to you soon.

I forget to take showers all the time. =) I think it's just one of those things we give up as a mom.

I know what you mean about adjusting to being a mom. It doesn't happen overnight. That's ok! I struggled with quite abit of resentment at the beginnning....my whole world being about Jack....it is tough! It will get better soon...I promise.

Let's go to the park sometime soon!

Anila,
I had to laugh at your post. Thank goodness I'm not the only one about the shower thing! :o) And going back to work will be a vacation? Jay and Micah must be peas from the same pod. I thought Jay would be quite the active one when we saw him in Kolkata. :o) Micah is too. Look out when he starts walking! I'm tired already, and he is only crawling!! :o) Glad we are all in the same boat.

Hey Anila,

Welcome to the mother's club!!!! i totally understand what you are going thru. My daughter still wants me to be attached to her toys. I think at this stage they do crave for a lot of attention so give it to them ( cause very soon they will start saying go away, and leave me alone).

Being a mom is the most challenging and difficult task and we will never get adjusted to being a mom ( i mean till the day we play with our grand kids we will be still learning about how to be a great mom!!!)So take one day at a time, cherish each moment, and definitely find some time for yourself cause that's what is going to keep you sane!!

Jay is so adorable! It is so neat to read about your life together with him.It seems like just yesterday Kaitrin was that age and I was trying to keep her out of the cat food and now she is 8 and I have to try to keep her out of my makeup. She THINKS she is old enough to wear it...NOT
